Leo Crane investigates our human relationship with technology. As a producer, artist and educator, he bridges physical and digital practices to explore the long history of creativity and innovation.
Leo's work includes animated films in charcoal and watercolour, figurative fine art, and the first ever live opera on the blockchain. He is currently producing his first feature film The Masterpiece of Tamagata. His work has been widely exhibited, screened, performed and published, winning multiple awards.
Leo runs the London-based studio Figuration, is the co-founder of the AI Film Academy, faculty at Sotheby's Institute and V&A Academy, and board member for Animate Projects. He holds MA (Distinction) in Computer Animation from Bournemouth and MA (Hons) in Classics from Oxford University. He studied painting with Maggi Hambling CBE and is the author of Contemporary Figures in Watercolour (Batsford Books, 2021).
